St Vincent de Paul
When you need a friend or support with everyday living, the SVP are only a phone call away – 07759 044263. Help is discreet, practical and non-judgemental.
Our parish is privileged to support a very active offshoot of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. The SVP is an international charity with local ‘conferences’ which seek to help those in need with practical help and support. They offer:
- A befriending service for elderly people, those who are housebound and others in need
- Transport to Mass
- Holidays for children and families
- Work with the local food bank
- Work with the SVP centre in Leeds providing practical support to the East Leeds community with affordable goods, training and advice
- St Jude’s Furniture Store (collection service available for donated furniture) 0113 245 0800.
- Monthly clothes sorting of items donated into the ‘clothes bin’ outside back of church.
Members meet on alternate Mondays at 7.30pm in the Upper room at church. If you would like to help with any of the activities above contact Cathy Overall via the Parish Office.
The history of our SVP group is documented and is available in “Notices and Downloads”. Please take a look.
