Welcome to our parish website. In our parish, we have two churches: our main church of St Josephs in Westgate, Wetherby and the church of the Immaculate Conception in Sicklinghall.
St Joseph’s church in Wetherby is usually open every day (not Monday) from after Mass until about 3.00pm and you are welcome to visit and have personal prayer during these times. Vigil Mass is celebrated on Saturday at 6.00pm, with the sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) between 5.00pm and 5.30pm. Mass is celebrated on Sunday at 10.00am. Tuesday to Friday, Mass is celebrated at 9.30am. Masses are live-streamed from St Joseph’s and available for 7 days after, so you can join in Mass from home.
The Church at Sicklinghall is usually open every day from mid-morning until approximately 4.00pm.
Our catholic community includes our primary school St Josephs: Carmelite sisters at Wood Hall: and there are two prison chaplaincies at Wetherby Young Offenders and HM Wealstun at Thorp Arch village.
We are a busy parish with diverse groups and organisations called to serve in different ways. Some serve through the Sacramental Ministry, or family and adult catechesis, some through prayer groups or by supporting charitable endeavours. There are many involved in the practical aspects of running the parish or who bring us together for social and other events.
If you are new to the parish, we invite you to join us at Mass where our Welcome Team are in the entrance area of the church (the Narthex) at Saturday Vigil and Sunday Mass. You may come and meet other parishioners over a cup of tea in the parish hall after Sunday Mass and here is the link to our contact form so you can tell us your details and let us know how you may wish to be involved.
You can join in parish prayer from home using a missal or by praying the Rosary. If you are technology-minded, download the RC Calendar app from Universalis and this gives you everything from daily Mass readings and commentary, to the Hours, daily Order of Mass, the Rosary and the Angelus.
Leeds Cathedral is streaming a range of devotions including the Angelus followed by the Rosary at noon, and Mass.
The parish office can be contacted via email: office.stjoseph.wetherby@dioceseofleeds.org.uk
